There is no end in sight to the rampant love of gambling in America. The explosion of gambling tournaments
on television, especially ESPN, has brought the love of gambling from the casino into the living room. Online gambling platforms have further enhanced this popular trend. Everyone, it seems, wants to play blackjack or Texas Hold’Em, and celebrities are front and center. Of course, Hollywood has always been about luxury, high-rolling, and glamour, and gambling is the ace when it comes to that sort of lifestyle.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are renowned for their gambling skills. They are often involved in closeted, high stakes games or celebrity charity tournaments. Growing up in Boston, what no doubt started out as a love of scratch tickets has morphed into an obsession with online blackjack and poker round tables. There has even been talk of Ben Affleck having a serious gambling problem. How much of that is heresy or celebrity gossip remains to be seen. Both Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are no doubt pleased that Massachusetts is considering bringing three, resort-style casinos to the Bay state. No more trips to Foxwoods or Mohegan Suns for these celebrities. There is a good chance that Massachusetts will finally have its own casinos.
Alex Rodriquez, the Yankees third baseman, also seems to have a love of gambling. Not too long ago he was spotted at a high-stakes game in Vegas. This type of behavior, of course, is frowned upon if you are in the Major League. Does anyone remember Pete Rose? Needless to say, A-Rod’s antics were investigated, the Yankees are going to the playoffs, and the only question that remains is if Alex won any big time dough in his closed-door poker session.
Celebrities have money, and lots of it. If they want to hit some blackjack or play for an enormous pot that is their prerogative. Soon they can even do it in Massachusetts
